where did you get 5:3 from....
800x480 is a 5:3 aspect ratio assuming square pixels.
thats not what i asked where did you get the info about this screen, that its 5:3 (you would have thought they would state that, i could be wrong) and what would stop you from using it in a GBZ compared to a fuzzy composite screen

i would assume its a 16:9 instead of 4:3 or "5:3"... which could still work... but i could be wrong

Dimensions: 56.5x86x10mm (WxHxD, depth includes header and display).

86mm would be a bit too wide for the Gameboy shell

it will be tight, but the 3.5 hdmi screen people have used is also about that size....

i've ordered one, if it dont fit i'll end up using it as a cctv monitor

I know it's been forever since wormy posted his stuff, but when I ordered my BW screen, it had no screws on the back. Any ideas on how to get it open?

You just need to stick something between them and work at it. Its a pain but I got it eventually. Also If you can get it to work could you let me know how. I did what I read on the forum and now I only have a screen that lights up.

Thanks! It worked like a charm. It seems that both of our boards are identical to each other. Maybe you should try the other way to put the screen at five volts? the wiki said something about their being two methods. I'm caught up with personal stuff now, so I have not tried it myself yet. That's the only other thing I can see to work.

Oh wait, I think I've figured it out, for that no=screw screen, you may have damaged the ribbon cable while prying the case open. Without the data pins, it's basically useless now :(
I think, don't take my word for it. It's just a theory.

Not sure but looking at your second picture the ribbon cable doesn't look like it's all the way in on the PCB.

Hey all, I'm a newbie here but I don't think this one's been posted before
This is the screen I ordered: http://www.ebay.com/itm/122136136524

It looks similar to this one, possibly a newer version? I haven't had a chance to test it yet.

Hi Conqy

I gør that very same screen, but as my iron is very bad i broke the screen.

But if you can deattach the screen and gået it off the board, om the backside it clearly labels 5v and gnd. I do not think any real modification is needed on this screen.
