I have found what seems to be a quite decent price for a 3.5" screen on eBay that is quite suitable for GBZ projects.

Tianma TM035KDH03 with a driver board and cable, from this seller.

Here is what a couple of people have to say about 5V modding and generally using it:

I will provide updates when it gets here and I am able to test it out. The seller accepted an offer for 8 dollars, they also have a few 10x lots for 40 dollars.

Came accross this http://www.gigaparts.com/3-5-LCD-Displary-Pi.html seems they have the screen in stock. Postage costs for me are way too high even more than the screen so going to give it a miss.

Sorry for the late update. I've had things to do and just now got to this..

These quotes from the eBay reviews are accurate. There are two JRC 2360A regulators on the board, the one closest to the outside of the circuit has ~5V coming out of pin 2. I assume this feeds into the rest of the circuitry, so this should be 5V moddable if my one assumption is right. If you screw up the cable and need a new one, a 4 pin JST 1.25mm spacing cable will fit in there as long as you shave down one of the retaining nubs a little bit.

I have ordered the screen from Us-vision on Amazon. It hasn't arrived yet.I'm waiting for that one and hoping it can be modded easily.

Unsure of how to mod this one, though I know it doesn't work off of 5v as is as I tested that.
