New to PI. Building a GBZ

So after watching wermy's videos I decided to jump in and build a gameboy zero. I got a dmg-1 from ebay with a broken screen. Purchased (hopefully) all the materials. I went with Kitsch-Bent rev. 1 pcb.
I am hoping I can reuse the original headphone jack, speaker, and volume wheel (i know a 30 year old pot is not great but oh well)
Will I run into any problems with audio output compatibility issues? I understand I need to tweak the config.txt file. Do I do this before or after I flash it to my sd card. I've never done anything with raspberry pi, or any real computer programming for that matter.
