3.5 Inch Screen Converting to 5V Help

Post by BMO_16 » Thu Dec 22, 2016 6:40 pm

I am having trouble finding the model of the 3.5 Inch Backup Camera I bought from AliExpress. It running an AMT 630 chip and I have tried connecting the third pin on the smaller IC to my red wire. The screen doesn't turn on and is my wiring to the Pi correct?

Any help to get it to run on 5v would be great. Thanks

Update: I attached only the yellow wire to TV on the Pi. I also attached the red wire directly to the third pin on the ic called ams1117. The only sign of life from the screen is a very dim flash and the screen stays black. Did my screen come to me broken?

Do you use the same powersupply on the screen and the pi?

Please check the pictures below and tell me what is written on the small chip... (please ignore the typo in "yellow"*) :)

I don't get your question. I connected the screen red and black wire to the 5v and ground on the pi. I use a micro USB to power the pi from a samsung phone charger which outputs 2 amps. For now, that is how I power the pi as my power booster is not shipped yet.

Thanks for the reply. Seems like I connected the yellow wire in the correct spot. The small red and black wire goes to a button control for the screen. The chip is very small and hard to read but I think it is Pm25LD512 CE 1434 2H2QMSOG the P could be an A.

I have the same screen and board.

Attaching the 5v power directly to the third pin on ams1117 should do the trick. The original 5v connection should not be connected.

Aren't the pp1 and pp6 pins on the pi for power input to the pi, not power output to another device as they are on the microusb which you will connect to a power socket... try putting the red 5V wire and black GND wire as indicated in picture below (or on any other pinhole which says 5V or GND, respectively)

Thanks, I was just following along Wermy videos. I'll try the 5v and GND on the GIPO and give you an update. Someone said I'm doing the correct thing by adding the 5V red wire to the third pin. I assume it a power issue since it is very dim.

Thanks for the help. I am going to assume I'm having a power issue with Pi and the screen. I tracked down the pin to be 5v and I followed it up with the Wiki instructions on variant 8. So I was confused when it didn't power up. Aha I'm such a noob at this.
