Screen help, no picture, 5v power measured on control board

Post by rodocop » Mon Apr 10, 2017 6:48 pm

So I have this screen and it's having issues.

This is the second time I have used one of these screens (my first GBZ used one too), and it was working up until yesterday. So the problem arose because I needed to remove two connectors to allow the case to close fully. I desoldered the connectors and soldered directly to the board.

When measuring voltage I get 5v at the red wire. So it is getting power. The yellow video pad did get lifted a bit but I was still able to solder to it. The two black wires are ground and they are fine.

On the left connector one whole pad lifted but it should not matter since it's for the adjustments, and it worked fine before with the buttons not even plugged in.

The ribbon cable seems fine too (no noticeable damage that i can see). Anyone have any suggestions to try? I don't think it has anything to do with the video cable. Since even with no video signal this screen would show a blue screen, now it is just black. The screen may be dead, and that is fine, but i'd like to figure it out if I can.
screen, it worked with 5v from the start, was working before I r…Show

You're sure your not shorting the signal cable with the ground? Looks like the yellow cable is soldered on in a weird angle, like almost hitting the black cable.

Yeah, there was not shorting. I checked this morning and it was good, I have now re-soldered that wire in a better position and still no go.

Yes, it was a pain to remove the connector, and in the process part of that pad lifted. I was still able to get the wire soldered down to what was left of the pad. The reason I did not believe that was the issue was because with this display you always get a blue screen when no video input is connected, so the fact that I am getting a black screen made me wonder if it was a power issue.

I will fool around bit more after work today, i'll add the button adjustment board back to see if it is just an adjustment issue. Also, if it is the video input pad, is there any way I can find another area to try to solder to?
