Hi guys. Got home from work today to find a big pile of components in my letterbox! Unfortunately when I've come to check everything, I think I've ordered the wrong amp. This is it - https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/adaf ... -max98357a When I came to wire it up on a breadboard to test, (following the guide) I realised it has different inputs and only then saw the I2S on it.
Adafruit have a guide to using this with Jessie, but nothing on retropie. Can this amp be used with retropie? And is there a way to test it without the pi to start with? (Like in wermy's guide?)
Cheers
Rik,
Wrong amp?

Re: Wrong amp?
Ignore the above! I found a page on the adafruit forums which solved the issue. Should anyone else wish to use the Adafruit I2S 3W Class D Amplifier Breakout - MAX98357A (full name for the next person who searches!) Simply do 2 things.
1. Connect the pins like this. (NOT how the adafruit website tells you. It is wrong)
Amp Vin to Raspbery Pi 5V
Amp GND to Raspbery Pi GND
Amp DIN to Raspbery Pi #21
Amp BCLK to Raspbery Pi #18
Amp LRCLK to Raspbery Pi #19
2. Run the following command
curl -sS https://raw.githubusercontent.com/adafr ... /i2samp.sh | bash
Simple! There's something so very right about hearing Gameboy music from an original Gameboy speaker!

Re: Wrong amp?
Can you confirm that you meant that exact wiring? It looks identical to how it's detailed on the Adafruit site unless they've updated it since you posted.Holydohnut wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2017 11:24 amIgnore the above! Re: Wrong amp?
Yep. They've updated it since I posted the above. Not surprised really! It was almost a year ago now.
Cracking amp by the way. Definitely recommended.
