BW screen Sister board

To my dismay, my kids managed to get into all my junk and lost the sister board to my screen. This is the one I have:

I've been trying to recreate one with a printed circuit board and some tact switches, but nothing is really working. Am I screwed when it comes to adjusting my contrast? Or is there a way I can get this done?
