UK parts help

Post by ror100 » Thu Jun 09, 2016 2:52 pm

Hey all,

Now my wedding is over, I'm finally able to get into the GBZero build a bit more. I've got a few things still to pickup, can anybody suggest recommended parts?

Battery - eBay part from China hasn't arrived. Has anybody in the UK got a suggested supplier for a suitable battery?

USB Hub - I've seen several hubs, but would appreciate if one of the people further along the build can suggest one which will fit in the case easily?

The metal strip across the screen (to re-glue the screw posts), what have others used for this? I am wondering if Meccano would suit? I could get a strip easily, but it may not be strong enough? Does this piece need to bead a load?

Thanks,
Rog.

If you are in a rush to find a battery I heard the innards of a powerbank make a pretty good donor for that. There's a thread here somewhere about that, should be in one of my last 20 replies.

Hi,

here is the hub I am using:
(link edited so no-one buys it as it's rubbish!)
It was £1.99 (inc post) and works fine with the zero.

DirtyBullets that battery looks alright, I think I have found some genuine Sanyo LGDBMG11865 18650 3500mah batteries at a sensible price and not from China! It depends if you want a flat battery or not!

i am using these for my Pi3 build atm but because using a zero it takes up the space (if going to SD the cartridge and have the same as wam's build) and i can't see using the round ones, the battery i ordered is very good quality and now resistance values and its the perfect size to fit in the gameboy,

IMHO there is no way that this cell is 2A... Or it's measurement were stopped at 2v :u

Oh by the way, battery is the only part you'd better NEVER go cheap. The ones from china on ebay are all fakes and most likely dangerous. Cf. Julian Ilett's videos. Most of them do not even have a quarter of the mah they claim and they are just garbage...

That's the only part you really need to get from a trustable manufacturer

Funnily enough this is the same one as I ordered and hasn't showed up. I'll ask them to resend then :)

Thanks everybody for the replies thus far. Anybody have any suggestions on the metal strip?
