Resistors and Capacitors Question

Post by poxbox3030 » Wed Jun 15, 2016 8:00 am

Hi all,

I was reading part 5 and went to order the gear for the low pass filter. However whilst searching for the capacitors I came across multiple types of the same capacitors but with different ratings (100v/50v/etc). The same goes for the capacitor for the SD card reader.

Is there a specific type I should be looking for? I'm very new to electronics but have managed to get everything in the GBZ project done up to this.

Hello,

Because we are running no more than 5v here it does not matter what you use, however the higher voltage rating means the caps will be larger, you can use 10v ones (if there is) and you will be fine :),

example

elec cap 10uf 50v
Ceramic Disc Cap 33nf at 50v (tiny things)
both resistors can be low as 1/4w (watts)

Hope this helps

you may wanna take a look at this fantastic guide
