How to: Modding the adafruit display to run off 5v

I just got my adafruit lcd but after getting it I found out it ran off of 12v and not 5v. Would I need to mod the screen to run off of 5v or is there a 12v connection on the pi? If I recall correctly there's a 5v

How did those of you who got the adafruit display, get it to run off 5v?

UPDATE: After searching around and testing I connected it to my XBox and discovered it did run off of 12v and not 5v. I then came across @wermy 's imgur writeup of how he did it. This answers my question, for future reference I'll post the images below.

You can see in his pic he desoldered the chip and soldered the wires from the pins to the GND and 12V on the composite video connector. I also linked an image with a diagram of the solder points. So to get it to run off 5V you simply desolder the chip and connect the wires to the points shown in the diagram. I'll test it and report back tomorrow :).

This post is just temporary as I'm sure @wermy will release his part 3 very soon :).

I believe wermy is going to address this in the next video, but this might be useful:

Thanks. I tested it and got it to work off of 12v. Tried 5v and it doesn't work. Kinda expected.

No worries, I'll just put it on standby until wermy explains in the next vid. It'd be very unfortunate if I fried it a day before the video drops

Followed and wired the screen as shown in the pic and I can confirm that it does work :D
