PSA: do not use goo-gone on your GB Case
When mounting my screen, I got some glue on the edges of my case. So I used goo-gone glue remover and even though it removed the glue fairly well... it stripped some of the paint from the case.
I tried to fix it and ended up making it a lot worse. At this point I may have to buy a nonorginal case from amazon to replace the front shell. Just do not want anyone else to run into this mistake.

To remove hotglue use a q-tip and some isopropanol. It will come off really easy.

Thanks for the tip. I also had some similar experience yesterday when i wanted to paint my screen surround black with a permanent marker. I used masking tape but it bled through the tape and got to the case, around the whole screen I tried various of options trying to get the marker off with no luck, so I ended up just sanding it away with some fine sand paper. Now this is a white repro case, so not sure how visible it would be on a original grey case, but it turned out ok for me.

Hey alien0matic, it was not hotglue. I used epoxy 3200 psi clear.alien0matic wrote:To remove hotglue use a q-tip and some isopropanol. It will come off really easy.

What grit sandpaper did you use?Flowlance wrote: Now this is a white repro case, so not sure how visible it would be on a original grey case, but it turned out ok for me.

Additional PSA:
If you decide to use super glue, be very wary of working with acetone. Acetone is death for plastics.
I used super glue to attach my screen protector and since it dries white, decided to use acetone to remove it. It doesn't do a ton of damage to the case but it left my black case with a shiny slightly slippery finish.

You can also use lighter fluid on glue, I use it to remove sellotape from original movie posters I collect. It also has the benefit of drying clear so no staining.

Yup, same thing happened to my gray one. It makes it slippery and kind of looks ugly.Ganreizu wrote:I used super glue to attach my screen protector and since it dries white, decided to use acetone to remove it. The 2 options that I have found are:
1. get a clear epoxy from local hardware store. make sure it says clear on the label. If you can one for glass, that is the best as long as it drys clear. (this is the two tubed epoxy mix).
2. another thread talked about getting Amazing Goop: https://www.amazon.com/Amazing-GOOP%C2% ... goop+clear
(I have not used this yet, but I assume it is the same as the clear epoxy, just not as strong. I am probably going to use GOOP my next go around sense it is a little thicker and probably easier to apply than the epoxy mix)
Here is another version of the GOOP which I will probably pick up locally: http://www.lowes.com/pd/Amazing-GOOP-4- ... ap/3102419
