Display BW corp - cabling - picture trembling

Post by andy---89 » Tue May 10, 2016 12:23 pm

Hi Guys,

I have a small problem with my Display form BW corp.

I've used the following display from BW corp.
http://www.amazon.de/Zoll-Monitor-Tache ... ge_o00_s00

I modified the screen like on Mamo's forum http://sudomod.com/forums/topic/mamos-gbz/
but the cabling did not work for my screen so used the ground(black cable) next to the "TV out"(red cable) see the picture attached.

My screen is working now but the picture is not running smoothly do you have any idea whats the problem or how i can fix this.
Is the cabling bad for my pi zero or display? I'm new at electrical engineering

thanks for your support :D

What do you mean not smooth, do have any delay? You didn't get any result when connecting the black directly to ground on the GPIO?

Hi Mamo,

not smooth means the picture is flickering.

Yes i got just a black screen while connecting the black cable directly to the GPIO ground so first i thought my screen is damaged.

But the article on the adafruit website gave me the idea connecting the cable to the ground next to the tv output :?

In this case, a video would help a lot. A flickering screen could mean practically anything :)

I've got a similar problem, although my flickering is not that bad.

Have you tried the composite output on another display? Your TV maybe? If that flickers also, it could rule out the display.

Hi Andy--89

Today I received the same Display as you. Before and after I did the necessary modifications, so that the display is running with 5 V I discovered that it depends what video source you have connected.

First I was testing the display with my N64. As you can see there is some major flickering going on.

Then I tested the display with my Super Nintendo. Here everything is running smoothly.

So maybe the picture is getting better when you boot directly to Retropi. In my opinion it has something to do with the colour depth or the resolution but this is just guessing. ;)
Unfortunately I don't have a RP0 so I can't test the Retropi / display setup.

I hope this helping you.

@Robots64

I've cutted the pins from the IC with this tool:

After that i desoldered the singel pin leavings. The IC looks really nasty afterwards but who care's :)
