is there a tutorial or walk through for removing the ic? my replacement arrives tomorrow and i don't want to waste another screen...

The easiest way to remove a CI is the following tool

But i did it with brute force :D :D

I used this tool cause i had it at home :)

i used some tweezers and my solder iron. i think I've damaged the board around the ic...

I too had some issues with the display at first. When I opened the display casing the ribbon cable /circuitboard glue job was atrocious. My ribbon cable looked like it may have had one lead damaged so I used an xacto knife and scraped a bit at that lead and taped some copper tape on top to improve conductivity. Looks like that helped for me.

Try putting pressure on various parts of the cable while it's displaying video. I noticed if I touch where I thought it was damaged, the picture wouldn't flicker. That's how I figured out where the problem was.

Sussed it is wired up my yellow cable and it's working a treat

just try to put the ground wire next to the TV Out (its also a ground).. this worked for me and i have the same screen...
take a look at the picture of the first page :)
