Select and down do weird things
Select and down do weird things
So I’ve finished my first build and it’s worked quite well for the most part up until now. The down dpad no longer works and when I press select it makes everything extremely laggy, buttons mushy, and degrades overall performance. I’ve checked continuity, used alcohol on the pads, switched GPIO’s and wires I am royalty stumped here. All help is appreciated

Re: Select and down do weird things
Are you running your audio through the button board? I’ve seen that ground cause issues on the buttons like that. Rerouting that ground directly to the headphones fixed mine.JLund1n wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 11:05 pmSo I’ve finished my first build and it’s worked quite well for the most part up until now. Re: Select and down do weird things
What headphones? I have the ground as of now going to my power assist, are you saying to have it go to the headphone jack or speaker portion or what?

Re: Select and down do weird things
there's a spot on the button board to the left that allows you to route the l/r sound and ground to the headphone jack and the speaker. i've just found that running the ground wire outside of the board helps with button input issues like you describe.

So I’ve done that and now the button works, YAY! However it’s pretty mushy now.

Re: Select and down do weird things
nice (good to know it's not just me too!)
sounds like the silicon pads now. different ones have different stiffness - the cheap, chinese ones seem to be the stiffest, then original ones, and the mushiest are the custom colored ones from various mod shops. try some other options if you have some.

Re: Select and down do weird things
I’m using the originals right now, I just cleaned everything off and added some shims and now it’s way better!
Re: Select and down do weird things
This is really strange, and the first I've heard of it. The button grounds and audio grounds should all be independent of each other. There shouldn't be any crossover.
