Re: Johweb's build (WIP)
That's a neat idea about getting audio out of the PiZ! I bought that same screen off of ebay and I can't wait to take a look at it in person. Looks amazing in photos. Your build is looking awesome!
Re: Johweb's build (WIP)
Thanks ! But I'm just mixing ideas from other builds...
No update of my build last week-end because I didn't have time to work on it (and I can only spend time on week-ends...)

Re: Johweb's build (WIP)
Let's keep building !
I received my battery, an after a little trim of the DMG battery compartment, it fits perfectly. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture, I'll do it next week.
I soldered cable onto the prs_tech board : I made the screen pcb lighter than it was, removing connectors and soldering directly : In a first time, I only wanted 4 front buttons. But then, I found an old USB joystick "sleeping" in a room of my house. So I decided to take L1 and R1 from it to put them in the back of the DMG case : I also took the board from the old joystick, I had to trim it a lot ! Using a 3D printer, I made a simple part to maintain these back buttons : Before going further, I wanted to check my screen cables. Cool ! Everything's fine for now...
I made most of this yesterday and this morning. And I was very pleased because Camble's graceful shutdown's switch was in my mailbox !
So, next time's plan :
- test the switch, then glue it in place
- make the hdmi cable smaller to fit in the case (and yes, test again if everything's right)
- planning how everything will fit inside and preparing hot glue !

Oh man...I really like those L/R buttons. I might have to hit up the goodwill and see if I can find a controller to salvage. Looks REALLY clean! Loving your build!johweb wrote: In a first time, I only wanted 4 front buttons. But then, I found an old USB joystick "sleeping" in a room of my house. Re: Johweb's build (WIP)
Do you actually need all those wires coming off the screen board? Can't you just connect it like the smaller screens with the single yellow wire to the TV through hold on the Pi?
Is that providing a better quality video signal with all of that in there?

Re: Johweb's build (WIP)
I just wanted to use hdmi. But I had problems last week-end, trying to shorten this cable. So I'm now using the composite cable. I didn't update my build, I first want to resolve a few problems first.
Re: Johweb's build (WIP)
Hey ! My build's not dead !
I've been struggling for a long time with the safe shutdown switch. So I ended by making my own, using the guide.
Now, my build is almost complete, I'll make pictures and I'll update this post next week !

Re: Johweb's build (WIP)
Needing to test my audio but not sure how to without the games loaded on there and no controller hooked up to the pi. What is this "speaker test" command? Might need to try this myself

@johweb
Can we get an update on your project?
I am using the same screen. Was curious where you get the audio from? From the hmdi to vga converter? How did everything fit? Would appreciate more photos.
Thank you!
