Re: Chedda's #3 gameboy pi build
Hey, thank you for the videos,
Question:
How are you planning to hook the audio up from the Pi3 to the AIO 2? Hooking up the PWM from the Pi Zero is clear to me but I haven't found a clear answer for the Pi3 yet and I don't want ruin my board somehow..
Thanks

I have successfully tested the audio on the Pi3 and Helders AIO 2.2.
PMW0 is the left channel (PP25 on the Pi)
PMW1 is the right channel (PP26 on the Pi)
I did purchase an analog stick but the cheap chinese knockoff fell apart and didn't do well. I am going to source another one in the future. The idea was to place it below the D-pad right next to select. I wanted to get the basics for the how-to together and then do random other videos for all features.ricsamma wrote:Nice build!
Question, I've noted you purchased psp analog joystick.. whats the idea??
Please update until what part we can cut the raspberry 3!!
regards!
I also decided not to cut the Pi3 for this build. I have the videos made on how to but youtube still has me blocked on uploading. Their support says I should be unblocked by Tuesday.
Stay Tuned!!!

YouTube unblocked. Uploads ready and going tomorrow. These will take you to the basics. Extras will be uploaded soon once I complete them.

I'm glad you're back to your build. I'm really looking forward to see the approach you take. I'm currently attempting to do the same build you using a pi 3 and Helders AIO. I've had some issues with low voltages, however. I believe i just need a new battery. Will you running the stock retropi image or will you be modifying the config file?Chedda wrote:YouTube unblocked. I also suffer from low voltage everywhere. My battery holds up pretty well. Went from 4.5 hours for a pi0 build to 3 hours on a pi3 running dreamcast. I will probably under clock the cpu and turn off bluetooth/wifi when not needed. I also noticed that Helders board gets warm when the sound is on.
I need to go through the default emulators and figure out which ones are better for the pi3.

I haven't gotten my sound to work, yet. Maybe you can show me your setup once you are done
Interesting, I hadn't considered turning off the wifi and bluetooth, good idea.
I'm actually looking into getting heat sinks for the atmega and the 2 chips on the pi 3. I'm also looking for a small fan, but i haven't found anything that will fit. Also it might make the voltage drops worse.
