Mike's GBZ with Kite's SAIO and HoolyHoo's Bracket
Mike's GBZ with Kite's SAIO and HoolyHoo's Bracket
Hi,
I just finalised my first Game Boy Zero and it is a lot of fun to play around with all the old games. I used Kite's SuperAllInOne board and HoolyHoo's 3d printed bracket which make the whole build really straight forward and clean. The only thing I screwed up are the LED holes. They are not aligned and ugly and I decided to insert a translucent 3d print 'window' here. This has the little benefit that you can also see the green Raspberry PI LED.

Re: Mike's GBZ with Kite's SAIO and HoolyHoo's Bracket
As promised I started the second build and I will make here a little photo documentation of some steps.
First I prepared the front, made the bracket and drilled the holes (this time I did not fail with LED holes)
I found some low profile switches and made a 3d printed base for the switch.
.. more coming soon

Looks great buddy. Thanks for sharing your build and some of your issues.
Your solution to the LED fixture looks great! Are you going to post your 3d files for others to replicate what you did there?

Some new pictures! The front half is now finished and anything is tested together with the backboard. Everything is working and the rest of the build will be a pleasure. On the pictures you can see how I have mounted the LED's and you can see how perfect Kite's SAIO and HoolyHoo's bracket fit (I have slightly changed the size of the bracket, now there is no more tolerance for the bracket and the display with the result that the display is automatically perfect aligned)

Yep. That's what I did. Used a black oil paint marker. This was a must since my case was white. It looks very nice.
