great to see the build completed, nice work.......
how is the heat from this build....
the Pi3 and Generic power supply kicks of some heat and so does the HDMI screen (how hot does this build get)....
also a little tip (a bit late now), if cambles safe shutdown board was hindering closing the shells together, or getting a flush close (which can happen)....
you can just place the board somewhere else and run cables to the switch (not ideal , but at least you have the on/off via the switch)
also what is a GBZ Handheld Edition....
.
Well, the heat is certainly apparent. The battery lasts about 3 hours, during which the build warms up for about 20 min and then levels off. I havent noticed any issue with function due to the heat and the case gets warm, but not hot. Makes a nice lil hand warmer if I decide to play outside on a cold day

. I may explore a fan option at some point and I will be monitoring the core temp in the meantime. So far it seems like it should be ok and the battery compartment doesn't see this heat.
I removed camble's switch because it seems to be faulty. TBC, I do not know if it arrived that way or if tinkering caused the issue. When in use, it would cause extremely long boot times and lagging during splashscreen. Removed the switch and the problem went away. Installed the switch in my vanilla GBZ and found the problem remained, so I have set it in the used parts bin.
Closing the build was a problem on the first try, but I moved some things around slightly and it closed up easily.
The GBZ - Handheld Edition is a cool lil kickstarter project by 32teeth and moosepr. There have been multiple hardware revisions and the most recent is currently available on
Tindie. I already have mine and have it about halfway assembled. I'm awaiting a 403060 battery and the switch may have been missed/lost(pretty cheap, so no big deal). I have another switch on order from ali that I'm waiting for.
