Hi PF21 :D .
i saw you mention that you should not desolder the micro usb port on the hdmi screen if not necessary, because of the chance of burning the traces for power.

i am in the need of help regarding hdmi power traces :o  .

I am assembling my gbz with kedei hdmi screen.
I soldered power wires on, like in the image attached, everything in the build +screen worked fine in the testing fase (on the table).

Now that i put everything in the case, and soldering wires on everything, i do not get any picture+power on the screen, no backlight or anything. the power wires going to the screen are live providing 5v 1a.
everything else works.

Where would i find the traces on board for the backlight and so on like you talk about. :?:

if you havent butchered the board....

connect the power like this....

Image

(if you have butchered the board, then you'll have to do the jumper mod)

NB: i'm also assuming you bridged the last to pins for the backlight switch (like the image shows)
(it can be bridged from either side of the board)

you need to show what you've got.....

please post some decent images....
(start a post in the support section, or in your own build post if you have one)

you may need to put a jumper from the switch, but without seeing what you've actually done its just guess work
(as the connection methods are tried and tested, and work perfectly on the Kedei screen/board)

For my issue, when I tested continuity between the positive and any negative terminal, I found that I had continuity. This meant I created a short, at the usb port when I removed it.

I cut the following trace and added the following jumper. This effectively bypassed the segment of the circuit that I had shorted. See pic.

VeteranGamer i am not at home right now, and can't send a picture of my excat build until tonight.
here is a picture i found on google, and draw the + - wires on as i have them now (from 1ups guide) , after several attemts, of it not working any more
.
when it worked (before i put it in the case) i had the + from the brightness switch brigdet, and - from the microusb pad. worked great. now nothing works.

picture attached with what i am at now.
will try PF21's solution later and post back results.

you dont need to put a jumper on the ground....

just a jumper from the switch.....

personally i woundn't start scrapping the board to get an ground connection, you can get the ground from other places
(thes position 1up uses is alot better, no jumper is needed)

okay that's kind of funny that it was from your build. :)
good to know about the grounding.
i have my wires soldered like i showed in the picture.is there obvious reason for this not working?
could i have burned some components? i can't find any shorts/burns on the board. Sorry for the many questions. this is my first project.

i cant really make any assessment without looking at what you've done....

you may have a bridge somewhere, a poor connection or something else....
which out seeing the board and your wiring, its all guess work....
