I had that USB card, but I couldn't figure out how to get the volume controls to work in the pi OS. Granted, i didn't look too hard for a solution.

Yesterday i hade a few spare minutes, so i desoldered the amp, and rewired everything :)

also glued in the volume wheel, and wired the last usb stuff up.

Tried to close the case, and realised that not all wires are long enough to tuck away neatly.... but we'll see :)

now i have to alter the settings of the OS (screen resolution and position, theme font size etc)

Thanks for your pics on the powerboost, I am currently struggling to get my circuit working but will give your set up a copy! ;)
Does it work as it should, I mean turn switch on and it comes on etc?
Also what are your 2 wires for coming off the usb hub?
Thanks

Yes, if i turn on the switch, everything boots up.
To.charge, the switch must be on. But if you first shut down the pi, and then charge (or charge while playing) its no probkem. After the lipo is fully charged, you can put the switch in the off position, and later if you want to play you can switch it on.

My lipo has a jst connector on it, so i can remove it from the gbz and charge it with my hobby grade lipo charger (in one hour max)

What wires do you mean? Only 2 loose wires on the last pictures were the 5v and gnd of the audio amp (which is now removed to se if the usb dac ams enough)

thanks for the reply, the wires i meant were your output wires from where you removed the usb but because you have connected everything on the top of the board it confused me
however i will do the same as you as it will keep the board neater within the case

Ok, so the whole thing is done....

but i have some trouble getting it to close properly :P

so i'll have to do some cable management.

Then i'll have to hook it up to my tv, to be able to read the command line..... and setup the whole thing:
- alter the theme text size
- alter the command line text size
- set the usb audio as default audio

and then have to set the overscan correctly, and configure the screen.

And then.... i'll have to download al emulators and games (does anyone have a image of a SD card with everything on it?!?!)

never mind guys.... never mind.....

i got it done :D yeah!

really happy with how it turned out. Goes together perfectly :D
The PLA printed screen bracket holds up well if you glue it down properly!

Used the original ext port plug for the ext usb:

Everything fits inside perfectly now.
I can reach the extra usb port by moving some wires.
As you can see, my button board of the screen has 4 buttons..... one is glued on, and if i push that when the lipo is plugged in, the battery checker (in the far corner) lights up :)
that way i can check the state of the lipo if i want.

now i have to wait on my new screen protector from @Dominator.
The one i have now........... i damaged
and the new one will have some better colours :)

last time i powered it up, i noticed 2 dead pixels..... but hey, it's just 2 :)

sooooo no i'll have to set up the whole thing.
If someone has a SD card image with all emulators and roms.... please share! That will make it a lot easyer for me ;)

after it is completely set up, i am going to think about building an other one for my brother....

Ok, my new screen surround from @Dominator arrived, looks perfect. Colors ar spot on!

I also downloaded rom-packs for:
- NES
- GB / GBC
- Supernintendo
- Geam Gear
- Dream Cast

So now the next step is setting up the whole thing :P

i think i'll have some time for that this weekend :D

After that i'll glue in the new screen surround.

Nice build. Could you please tell me where you got your 4 led indicator board from? It looks like quite a nice small one. All the ones I've tried so far don't work under 4v. Thanks.
