Chedda's #3 gameboy pi build

To the first 4 and including solder points of USB (both of them). That way right after those I have two sets of 4 points so I have 2 USBs left.Ziggurat wrote:How far did you cut? I have not done the cut yet, need to get my parts and plan the internal layout first. But I have done some thoughts. There are test pads for the USB contacts, so you can if you need cut even further than the holes. I have done a drawing to plan.Mad_Duke wrote:To the first 4 and including solder points of USB (both of them). I've done my cut between the red and orange ones and everything works great. I'm in no need of the Ethernet port and two USBs is plenty.Ziggurat wrote:I have not done the cut yet, need to get my parts and plan the internal layout first. But I have done some thoughts. But I really wish they would make the RPi smaller in that regard. I would really only need the HDMI port soldered (too many wires and because of possible signal degradation/loss), all other stuff I wouldn't mind soldering myself.
Re: Chedda's #3 gameboy pi build
If you use the Pi3 are you worried about overheating? I've seen some people mention it and others say it hasn't been a problem. Also how will api3 affect battery consumption? I was considering a Pi3 since there are some N64 games I'd love to play and I don't really want to use the cartridge as a SD slot. But if overheating is an issue I might stick to the Zero. I start my first build as soon as Camble's Shutdown switch arrives.

Raspberry Pi 3 uses a lot of battery power compared to a Pi Zero. You'll want to put in as big of a battery as possible. Theluthier used a 3000 mah battery in his PiSP Pocket and he says he gets 3-4 hours of playtime.jothie wrote:Also how will api3 affect battery consumption?

I will have about a 4500mAh-6000mAh battery. All depends on what I receive. The manufacture claims 10000mAh but I won't get that much. Them chinese folk like to fluff their numbers.

Yes I sure am. Life has gotten in the way and I will resume the build soon.
