I may be wrong but I don't remember a joystick on the game gear... if not how was that done?

Since the game gear looks bigger why not add the pi 3 instead of zero.

I don't think that there was..... I think that that has been modified.

its bigger but not by much..mostly because im retaining the cartridge slot and most of the logic board..ive tried the stripped down
method and it just wasnt working out..

the analog stick was fabricated from a ps3 controller...there are also "L" and "R" buttons on top

right now im intergrading an analog to digital converter chip "mcp3008" to the stick..im managed to get it working on the GPIO but i much rather intergrade it to the teensy LC. on the pi i got it working by enabling the SPI..
