Hello!

So a short time back I saw a post from a fellow community member @sumcanadianguy. He was going to build a BMO GBZ. I was so excited about the idea that I went ahead and ordered the parts needed to recreate BMO in GBZ form.

This is my 6th build so far, and I would say it went the smoothest. All the community members that are helping all of us excel at building GBZs, I applaud you Thanks @helder, @camble, @wermy, and kitsch-bent for all the parts used in this build!

So now to the BMO build:

- I used a 4000 mAh battery that I purchased from China. It fits pretty well in the battery compartment if you dremel it out comparably to Wermy's first build.
- The screen is 320x240 from Amazon. Same as a bunch of others. I was thinking about putting a 640x480 screen in this build, but I've used the screen once, and it's so big! It was a little bit of a pain to get it to fit and then close the top of the case.
- This is the first time I've used a safe shutdown switch from Camble. I've got to say it's awesome!
- This is also the first build where I added L & R buttons from a SNES controller. I've usually been content with the typical black pegs used in Wermy's builds, but this time I wanted to go wild! Haha

There are a couple things I want to add to this build:
1. I want to add a special BMO splash screen. If anyone can help with this, I would really appreciate it! Even if you just guide me as to how to do it.
2. Sadly I don't have a 3D printer, but I really want to add the BMO letters in black to each side of the Gameboy. If someone can please help, let me know! I'll definitely pay for the product.

I have the same color gameboy case. How did you keep it looking so clean? Could you open it up and take some pictures?

Looks good! How do the SNES buttons compare to the tactile switches?

I believe I put a splashscreen in my thread. I FINALLY just received all my parts so I should be able to get mine together soon I hope. Working all day at a 9-5 then coming home and running a 3d printing business until 2 a.m. has me kinda drained.

Build looks good. Only thing I am doing different is I have a custom lens and label I had Dominator make me and I am going to spray the inside of my case white before I do my build so I gets rid of the translucency and also use the tact switches for the L&R.

Yeah I definitely understand the grind to get things moving with a 9-5 job

I messaged Dominator to see if I could get a custom lens, but I never heard back. I'll try again in the future. Now I just need those side BMO panels! Also, I can't wait to see how your sprayed case looks!

He sent me 2 lenses because one wasn't perfect. Mine are square though and would require cutting the rounded corner off. Not sure if that is the design you are looking for but if I don't ruin in I can send it to you for just the shipping cost if I ever get around to finishing my build. I bought a sacrificial grey aftermarket shell to practice my cuts on

Haha great idea about practicing! I feel like that's always the toughest part, cutting the case.

I would be so happy to get one of those from you! I'll pay whatever, shipping and a little extra for the inconvenience if you wanted haha. Didn't think about the square cut, but that will look awesome!

Sorry for getting back to you so late. Please see some of my attached pictures. To be honest, I felt like this was one of my messier builds haha! The inside isn't too organized, or basically everything is organized expect for the raspberry pi. And for cleanliness during the cutting of the case, I've found it to be easy more effective to just slowly cut all the plastic I initially want to cut off with my wire cutters. I start with that and then use the dremel for everything else that requires it.

@muniosi I am loving these snes L & R buttons vs the tactile switch! I was really nervous doing it the first time, but there seems to be a perfect spot on the case that allows a screw to hold the "1button" PCB in place (see picture below). And then the snes L & R is nicely curved to be a natural fit with the Gameboy case. I started at the normal area where you would add the tactile buttons and just dremeled away from there to the center until my snes buttons worked.

By the way, the "1button" PCB pads are from kitsch-bent! They work as advertised.

Here it is sprayed. Gotta let it cure for a bit and I'm not ready for it yet anyways.
Here is that extra screen protector. You can kinda see at the bottom that the font got ever so slightly cut off. I'm guessing that's why I got 2.
I also made this and had him print it twice so if I don't ruin my first one I'll sell you that too if you want it.
