Hey there again.

I could't resist starting a new GBZ with Kite's SAIO board.
Initially I wanted to do a RPi3 build, but My PIs were stolen in on the post, so I decided to go for the Pi0.
I wanted to go for a SNES like look, so I ordered 10 sets of assorted color gb buttons and hoped for the best. It turned out cool.
The board by Kite is super impressive, I have never seen such a mature DIY board, and the screen is gorgeous compared to any of the composite screens.

I hope to install a 3DS analog stick to this one, but I am not quite sure how to do that.
If you've seen any good solution please link it here, or pm me.

Expect more soon :)

That looks excellent!!! Where did you order the buttons? I ordered 2 different usb snes controllers on amazon and on one controller the buttons fit perfectly but are low quality plastic. And the other one has great quality buttons but the button wells don't fit right. An I am also interested in fitting a 3ds slide pad in mine as well.

I haven't even finished my First Build, using the Kitsch Bent 4 button PCB. Spent waaay too long researching the different audio approaches and buying other parts for the next builds. Getting ahead of myself a bit.

This looks good, I have holder and kite boards ordered, so looking forward to using those.

🤘😀

I bought a 10 pack of assorted color gameboy button caps :) And picked them for the right colors.

It came together quite well, though I already ordered an other case, as I am not super satisfied with how the shoulder buttons turned out.
I had some issues with soldering the GPIOs, so I ended up covering the whole thing in capton tape, also redoing a couple of joints.

Is it me or are the L and R buttons switched? Or is that what you mean by "not satisfied how the shoulder buttons turned out"?

Sure, it was ripped out of an old dsi. I attached wires to the terminals of switches, then glued the whole assembly together. It clicks well, but I looks kind of funny, and DIY as the buttons have a slight angle on the dsi.

:D It is not just you, but it couldn't be fit the other way around. That is one of the things I am not really satisfied with. The other would be the angle these are held in there, also the tolerances are pretty bad, unfortunately I had to do all the thinning of the plastic by hand with files and a chisel.
