hii,

so I bought the same battery as you but it doesn't quite fit inside the compartment (the battery's ever so slightly too big) so I was wondering if you cut the side of the compartment or something to get it in?
Yes, I grinded one of the sides but only about 1mm. There is a lip on either side that you can dremel down. It is not noticeable at all when battery cover is on.

Yes, same for me. You have to shave off a bit of the compartment to fit it in.
Also, since in the other direction the battery is to small printed parts like Hoolyhoo used are useful to keep the battery in position with the pogo pins.

Hello HoolyHoo !

I'm currently working on my cartridge. I'm using Seth's SD Card reader with advanced filtering. On the free pads, i have soldered 3mm LEDS (red, green, yellow, blue)

I then applied a 3.3V power to the pads on the cartridge to test the LEDS.
Green and Blue are Ok.
Red and Yellow keeps buring. Sometimes, only one flash and dead. At every step, i test them.
1) apply tin and test ok
2) solder cable and test sometimes ok sometimes not
3) if ok, put heatshrink and test, sometimes ok sometime not
4) if ok, i solder on the board the other cable end and test, sometimes ok sometimes not.

I suspect or different qualities and thus they burn after 2 or more turning on, or i suspect the heat from destroying them but i apply the soldering iron only 1 or 2 seconds on the LEDS pins and after cooling on the cables... i've burnt 6 reds so far and 3 yellow but 0 green and blue.

Did you use resistors somewhere ?

My LEDS are cheap LEDS from Ali, 3mm round, red and yellow are given for 2.0/2.2V forward voltage while blue and green are given 3.0/3.2V forward voltage.

Thanks for your help, i feel lost now lol

If your testing the led straight with 3.3v without a resistor they will burn out. To test use a 220 ohm resistor. Kites board already has the resistor built in so you won't need it then.

Hooly - How much of the battery compartment did you cut out? Is it as per the Kite SAIO documentation?

Ta!

I left the battery compartment virtually intact. I only had to remove about 1 mm on one of the sides to fit the Samsung battery.

Hm.. But you are using the SAIO - the headphone jack wants to hit the battery compartment.

Yours didnt?

EDIT: Nevermind - cut off the little square inside that was pushing up against the jack.

Thanks!

HoolyHoo, two questions on your build:

1. Can you give more details about the status LEDs? What size LEDs were they? Sourced from where?

2. I like where you placed your L1 R1 buttons... my question, do you think you'd be able to fit standard GB buttons in the same place?

Hello HoolyHoo,

Quick question: Does the stormtrooper them support collections? I tried finding an answer but didn't see one here. I also don't have a raspberry pi with the theme installed to test it yet, either.

Thanks!
