I figured I would share this with you guys for the sake of doing so. I thought you guys might find this interesting.
I love the two piece buttons from hand held legends, especially when mixing a color inner Button with a clear outer Button. My only gripe is, it's no good to to use them for X and Y. Otherwise one would have two buttons with As on them and two with Bs. I've searched and searched for something comparable with no luck.
So I got an idea.... remove the raised letters, use epoxy putty to sculpt new letters and then paint them all to match.
I've seen videos of people sculpting and painting much smaller things with miniature table top gaming. I've also done a good job of painting several miniature models myself.
It was harder then I thought...
The button I sculpted the X on was just a practice run. I think I did a pretty good job of removing the A from the top right button in the picture though... The sculpting was a failure though. Maybe with enough practice I can do it.

Other than being slightly off center (maybe it's the camera angle) I'm not sure why you consider this a failure.
