A GBZ with BMOs case would be awesome.

Re: And Now My Game Boy Zero Build(s)...
So my screen turned up
it works on 5v but has a wide pcb
Test fitted into the gameboy case:
So i still have to drill the button holes, now that my 10.8mm drill bit has arrived there is no excuse!!
I made a template for the drilling
I think I need to adjust the alignment slightly for the top buttons. That is what you get for using someone else's design!!
So anyway, I got another project, like you do
A transparent red case, I have used my screen surround in metallic silver.
So I drilled the holes using my template;
I drilled the pilot holes with a 1mm drill bit, then went to 3.2mm and finally I used a 10.8mm bit. I did the last by hand, not recommended as I cut my thumb on the drill shaft, that drill was sharp!
So halfway through cutting out the screen surround the dremel broke! It wouldn't be so bad, except I had borrowed it so i'll probably have to buy 2 new dremels now!!
Anyway, i'm off to make more surrounds!
Cheers,
Dom.

What do you think about that screen? I got the same and hooked everything up and it looks horrible. I have flickering lines all over it. Thinking about getting the 640x480px Display now.

Yeah same here. It doesn't look so good. I don't know where to get one of those 640x480 screens which would fit into that case with my setup.alien0matic wrote:What do you think about that screen? oh, it's like a display lottery! Mine does not have flickering but the display is a bit rubbish, well it is a composite screen. I will be keeping it with the black gbz, as I am making more...Kharmeleon wrote:Yeah same here. It doesn't look so good. Re: And Now My Game Boy Zero Build(s)...
So, there has not been much going on here. I have been busy making screen surrounds and stickers.
Well the dremel broke, so after some searching I bought one from Maplins:
(sorry for the rubbish picture).
Well it is more powerful and since the gameboy case is made of cheese I had no problem in ruining a red case
Note to self- use the sandpaper attachment not the grinding stone and don't leave a saucer of acetone on the side...
So lesson learnt and new case bought.
I bought another screen and guess what? Yes, another one with the wrong board.
So dremel to the rescue!
I shortened it a little and it still works! just don't ask me to change the settings.
Now, i'm off to clean up the mess that i've made

oh man, Sorry for you! I am in the same situation like you.alien0matic wrote:What do you think about that screen? I got the same and hooked everything up and it looks horrible. I have flickering lines all over it. Thinking about getting the 640x480px Display now.
But I guess the horrible display quality is related to my experimental build and no soldered composite connection (crocodile clamps at the moment).
And: I think after I've desoldered the IC XL1509, the picture quality got slightly better (even this board is already working with 5V input).
@dominator:
could you provide a picture of your button housings X & Y please? (just the front cover without the custom PCB)

Do you have a screen how to wire? Do I need only the Pin2 to connect because in some tutorials they connect also GND Pin to the main-header of the display-mainboard.
