Did you set safe shutdown and speakers actually? On the first photos didn't seem so.
I programmed the arduino to send a shutdown command when I pulled both triggers and pressed d-pad down. The sound does in fact work, but only in the assembled version. The inside pics aren't complete. I made some wires too short, so I had to solder them with the back partially on. I couldn't take pics at that point :(
So you've set an arduino to manage the keypresses and the power? hm... that seems an interesting and easy way for those like me for who is expensive to ship a safecase and who don't really care about the switch. how do you turn it on? do you have the arduino always on so you can turn it on? regarding the sound, do you connect directly to the pi?

this project seems awesome! please open source the stl my printer is coming! :P

The arduino is not always on, and the power switch actually cuts the power. When I press the shutdown combination, the arduino presses F4 to get to the terminal and then types "sudo shutdown -h now". The pi takes about 3-4 seconds after that to be safe to power off. Yes, the audio is directly connected to the pi audio jack(advantage of using a pi3).

Regarding the print files, I'm still making revisions. The assembled version had a few issues that made assembly difficult. Namely, the arduino was squished and almost didn't have enough room. It'll be maybe a week before they're perfect.

It's a bit irrelevant now, but I've perfected the design (and will be releasing the STLs with this post!). I reprinted and rebuilt it with new features like:
-SD card access
-Larger triggers
-Raised buttons
-Volume wheel
-Brightness wheel
-Battery indicators
---Low
---Charging
---Charged

Any chance of getting a version with analog holes in the middle and bottom left of the model? (Perhaps without the battery indicator lights) this would make it perfect for my build...

I'm in love with the slimness of your model!

I don't currently have any analog sticks to measure, though I'll do it if you give me mm dimensions.

I'm using Kitsch-Bent silicone buttons.
