First Built, SNES/Custom Them and Kite's CSO

Post by Nicode70 » Sun Feb 25, 2018 4:55 am

Hi everybody,

While waiting for Kite's CSO, i've been sourcing parts and already got some.
My aim is to do a built with as little glue as possible and using the parts made by the community.

Here is the part list (updating)
DPR high quality grey shell and SNES button set
HoolyHoo's screen bracket
Dextech LiPo battery
Kite's CSO (of course)
Custom screen glass from retropiehandhelds
Hoolyhoo's Glue Less Support Bracket for Kite's Mode/Power Switch board
Derebee's fan mount
Yaya's stickers
Psp joystick

You can follow the progress on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nicogbpi/

Now i need to decide if i really use the PSP joystick and if I put 2 or 4 buttons on the back.

Any input is welcome

I've designed a logo to fill the blank space at the bottom left corner of the case. can't decide between grey or red.

The case has ben moded to fit the battery and the screen cut. Cutting is pretty easy, since the plastic is quite soft.

Hi guys, my build is coming along slowly but nicely. all the holes on the front case are cut (X, Y and joystick). screen bracket received.

Power switch and fan bracket printed thanks to a local guy who runs a 3D printing shop. (nice guy and really into 3D printing). The battery showed up as well.

And i had a breakthrough last nigh about the logo to put on front. i'll go for the retropie logo. simple and says it all. I just need to find the right size to print it.

One thing is sure, this won't be my only built....

Not much more i can do for the moment. Next step is hoolyhoo's 4 buttons backboard that should be here is a couple of weeks. then Yaya's stickers.

Water slide decal paper. Yaya’s Pointed out this technique to me. I’ve made quite a few scale models a few decades ago. So applying it should not be too problematic. The main problem is creating the image and printing it right.

creating and printing the decals isnt a problem (its really straight forward).....

design or google the image you want....
get the appropriate decal paper for your printer (either inkjet or laser)
print it (if you don't have a printer find someone that does) (it doesnt have to be ultra professional)
if printed on inkjet apply some clear coat (not needed for laser)
cut and apply your design.....

simple...

heres a easy video to follow....

Yeah the retropi logo i found on google is already in png without background. So it's just a matter of finding the right size i guess.
The paper i found on amazon doesn't need a clear coat.

Sounds like a breeze :D
