Roger’s 2nd CS CM3 Simple Build

Post by rogerfliporian » Tue Jul 03, 2018 7:15 pm

2nd Build! Very simple with Kites Circuit Sword and HoolyHoo soft touch rear buttons/bracket.
Sadly fell victim to 2 too long screws.

Next build will be a pi zero w and tinkerboy board with working cartridge (even though no longer fashionable 🙂)

Notes for this time around:
Epoxy (JB Weld Clear in the two tube syringe 5 minute set) did NOT work to hold the screen bracket down. I ended up going back with hot glue.
The hoolyhoo bracket I used did not allow the two top buttons to protrude enough for my liking so I cut out the little black bits in the button wells. So if this is the button well: -O- I cut out the -. After doing that there was way too much wiggle between the buttons and the membranes so I used a hole punch on the original plastic game boy screen and stuck the clippings into the underside of the buttons which resulted in nice clicky buttons.
Lastly, don’t use the longest screws to secure your circuit sword to the case.

All told I think this one turned out much nicer than the first and only took an hour or two from start to finish. Was also much more confident!
