My Red GBZ using Kites Circuit Sword Lite

Post by vinomer » Tue Oct 30, 2018 3:57 pm

This literally took me a couple of hours to finish, in a single evening, while taking care of my two little girls. This has been the easiest build so far, and I'm very happy with the final result.

These first two pictures show the most work to be done involving the Circuit Sword Lite, besides the work on the case itself.

Great colour combination! (shame about the grey cartridge though - have a look on Aliexpress, you can get aftermarket cartridges super cheap in loads of colours!)

Don't forget you can increase the backlight brightness with those little switches on the back. See the wiki for which ones, but if you flick the two at the right hand side to "ON" you'll get it brighter ;)

That cartridge was just a place holder for the picture, Im going to replace it with a dummy red, yellow, or red and yellow cartridge as soon as I can. I just happened to have it when I first started getting into the GBZ scene.

Looks amazing, so happy to hear it all went well! Don't forget you can increase the backlight brightness with those little switches on the back (which you can access when you remove the battery). See the wiki for which ones, but if you flick the two at the right hand side to "ON" you'll get it brighter ;)
Thanks, went for something simple since you made everything so simple with the CS, ha. Thus, I went ahead and ordered another Lite and a Gem this time around. I noticed those switches, I'll mess around with them. Thanks again.

Very nice. Where did you source your rear buttons?

I got them from HoolyHoo, he has a lot of great parts that are probably the best out there. I've bought parts and pieces from everywhere (Amazon, eBay, Gearbest... Etc) but I've found HoolyHoo's items to be the best.

Here's the link to this particular item, but I'd check out the Sudomod Sale/Trade section for different items.

Update: I ended up changing the button facings, the yellow buttons made it look like a toy, and everything being red and yellow was just too much color.

Here's the Gameboy with updated buttons.
Light gray D-Pad, Dark gray XY and Start/Select buttons, white AB buttons.
