Spook's project

Post by Spookbroodje » Fri Jul 01, 2016 2:26 pm

First things first, let me introduce myself.
Im John aka Spookbroodje (or Spook for the non dutch speakers) from The Netherlands.

So after finding Wermy's first guide video on youtube I wanted to do it aswell.
So I recently ordered a Raspberry Pi Zero from pimoroni (or something simular).
Found a 100% working Gameboy (for €7.50), only problem is it having 1 line of dead pixels pn the screen.
Ordered a Tri-wing screwdriver and plan on ordering the rest of the parts soon.

If anyone has tips or tricks to start the build or pay attention to during please let me know.
Also if other dutch builders have tips for parts let me know aswell.

So after a long wait the Raspberry Pi zero's arrived. I ordered some parts over the internet and waiting for those to arrive.
So i went to my local hardware store and bought a Sweex 4 USB 2.0 Hub (Like the one on the wiki)

Now my question is, can I fit it all in the Gameboy with only the case removed of the hub and keep the hub in 1 piece?

If you haven't already, don't cut into that gameboy. If the hardware is good, don't sacrifice it! It's relatively cheap to get the screen replaced.

Heej, nog een kaaskop. Hahaha welkom

So! Another dutchy!
If you want to keep the gray Gameboy(it looks perfect, barely yellowed), i have a screen left from my donor gb...

But hey.... If its broken... Covert it hahaha
My first GBZ build -=HERE=- -> Became a gift to my little brother!
My 2nd GBZ build -=WIP HERE=- -> going with HDMI!

Front of the gameboy looks waaay better then the back.
The idea was to build a game boy zero in it.

If the line on the screen is vertical, it's a very easy fix. Definitely worth keeping intact. eBay is flooded with Gameboys which won't power on, or have much worse displays and cracked screen protectors. Yellowed cases can be re-whitened with peroxide. You could always stick a backlight kit in that unit!
