Second Build Grey SNES (CS)

Post by Phiro13 » Tue May 14, 2019 2:03 pm

Hello together,

I wanted to post this for a long time but couldn't find the time and motivation to do so. After a break from building GameBoys and reading in the forums I'm back at it and looking forward to build my third one. And now I want to share my second build.

As I wrote in the posting about my first build, my goal was to make it like a factory built product like it's done from many of you here in the community. Now with a little experience it should be flawless in it's look, haptic and the software as well.
This one should be an original grey GameBoy with SNES buttons. It's nothing special or unseen here, but for me I totally achieved my goal and don't know what to do better. At least with my skills.
Splashscreen, ES loading screen and shutdown screen are all hidden. The run command screen is hidden with a loading image from every system which meets the pixel metadata theme perfectly. RetroPie runs in Kiosk mode.
I again used an original case, sorry for sacrificing this. I bleached the case of this none working GameBoy and it came out great!
On the inside I think the pictures say enough.

Thanks again to the whole community and especially to all who provides parts and putting so much effort in this just to make people smile.
It brings so much fun to friends (who are calling me nerd now) and family.

Very clean. Which 3D printed parts did you use throughout your build? I'm getting ready to build mine.

I used HoolyHoo‘s screen- and power button brackets. For the back buttons I chose erik_g‘s, because the position of the buttons is very low, which makes the playing easier for me. And also the new version with silicone tacticle buttons feels like a charm.

Nice work! I like the choice of concave buttons of the back matching the case color.

They‘re from an original SNES controller.
