Gameboy Zero first build by undead1 (almost done!)

Post by undead1 » Mon Jun 24, 2019 11:01 pm

Been lurking around for a while, then decided to take plunge into my first build with no real electronics experience. A lot of mistakes and lesson learned!

Mostly done except for the side which needed re-sanding and re-spraying due "screwless" design . Almost ran out of space due to really bad cable management, poor soldering and to accommodate placement for both composite and HDMI out.

Tried something different by moving USB charging port to the bottom and added a "standee" using the battery lid. Probably a bad idea now that I can't charge while it is "standing".

You might have noticed the horrible HDMI out placement, this is due to the first HDMI adapter which I think is drawing out too much power. Avoid using this, go for the simplest mini HDMI to HDMI out. Another bad mistake was wiring the low batt LED indicator from Powerboost 1000C wrongly. Now it is permanently light up even when turned off

Was a lot of fun, looking forward to my next build using red transparent GB on the left. Likely would attempt using 3B+ or 4 (now that it is officially out). Many thanks to Tinkerboy as this would be impossible for me without his AIO.

Looks special! ;) But i like it! A transparent case do not forgive ;) That`s the reason why i not use one. You can see everything, scratches, glue...
