Glow in the Dark custom parts Kite Circuit Sword

Post by Troff » Mon Mar 09, 2020 3:45 am

Just some quick information and photos of my Circuit Sword. If you want more details, let me know.
I used a Kite Circuit Sword in a clear shell. I wanted to use glow in the dark parts, but could not find much of anythings, so I made silicone molds and made the parts myself. Some of the parts started as 3D printed parts (I do not have a printer so I ordered online) then I made molds, then mixed resin with glow in the dark powder to cast the parts.
-Green and Blue glow in the dark powders work the best, yellow and red fade very quickly.
-The goal was to have a transparent shell with translucent buttons that also glowed in the dark. (you know, for fun)
-I even made the screen bracket and the PSP thumbstick cap glow too.
Hope you all like it. It is only my second build.

Actually I Purchased the powder from glow nation LLC. Not sure if they’re connected to the company you are referring to.

Question: As someone who is looking to do casting of buttons & brackets as well, how exactly did you do it with the molding? It appears that you cut open the mold down the middle, but wouldn't the buttons & brackets be in the way? How were you able to peel apart the 2 halves? Did you use aluminum foil between the sides?
