So I have a problem I can't solve.
I connected my USB Hub to the Pi (sweex usb hub, from the wiki) on the USB pads, and scrapped the USB connectors from the hub. I left one though, so I can quickly plug in something.
Now when I connect my Arduino to the USB connector, with a USB cable, it works fine. But when I solder the cable onto the USB hub itself, it doesn't work. I checked ten times, there are no solder bridges and it is wired up correctly.

Thanks for any help and input
USB works with cable but not when soldered onto the hub

try swapping the green and the white wires over on the hub......Pingu69 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 8:17 amSo I have a problem I can't solve.

i'm not sure how you've actually wired it (pictures not that clear)....
but as a rule of thumb....
Red (5V VCC), White (Data -), Green (Data +), Black (GND)
also a little twisting of the data wires never hurts....
(they dont have to be super tight, but twisting them may reduce interference)

.

Hey, I tried that but it didn't work.VeteranGamer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 10:15 am

Like I said, it works if I use a regular USB cable and just plug it into the hub, so I guess I wired something wrong or I forgot something

Re: USB works with cable but not when soldered onto the hub
Did you ever figure this out? I have tried 3 hubs and have the same exact issue.
With a fourth hub I tried something different. It works fine out of the box if I plug it into my laptop. I de-soldered the 5v and GND in from the input cable. I then hooked soldered the PowerBoost to these two spots on the hub. I get power as expected (like a powered hub), and the hub's LED lights up. However, when I plug the cable (now with only the white and green wires still connected to the hub) into my laptop, it's not recognized. It seems like all of my hubs require some sort of circuit to complete that is not completing without a USB cable input.

No, I just skipped the arduino, and soldered input to the pi. the usb luckily works with the audioaggiehavoc wrote: ↑Fri Feb 02, 2018 1:44 pmDid you ever figure this out? I have tried 3 hubs and have the same exact issue.

I think the issue is this: https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=1345
I tried it, but it didn't work in my case. I think it's the specific hub I'm using.

For future reference, make sure to buy one of the "working" hubs from the wiki, as well as short the pins as described in my post above. I got one of the octopus style hubs, and it works.
