Yes but using a speaker with it may be a bit low-volume. Earphones though will sound just fine.

I'll ask the same question, but in my case I'm using a sound card. The wiring is like in the post by Kilren, http://i.imgur.com/YTlQdlX.png only I'm not using the amp. Correct me if I'm wrong, but all I have to do is to connect the "R" (yellow wire) with the "+, the "L" (blue wire) with the "-" and leave the center (green wire) unplugged (desolder it)?
