So I have tried every darn diddly darn thing I could think of to get my controller buttons to work but they are stubborn buggers. So far I have tried using mk_joystick and retrogame. Most recently the premade retropie image from tinkerboy with retrogame already installed - all to no avail. I have used a meter to ensure all wiring is connected, which they are.
This leads me to believe I am robably missing something very simple. So does anybody see something I am missing?? Totally new to this world so I am pretty clueless but excited!
Thanks for any help!

Re: Help Needed - buttons PCB
maybe a dumb question, but did you un-comment the retrogame config in the startup? tinkerboy's image has it disabled by default.Brand138 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 28, 2019 4:26 pmSo I have tried every darn diddly darn thing I could think of to get my controller buttons to work but they are stubborn buggers. Re: Help Needed - buttons PCB
Is that header on the pi soldered on there? What about the button pcb?
I assume those connectors are not getting a great connection.

Re: Help Needed - buttons PCB
Thank you for the replies!
I will try some of the suggestions and let you know.
Rodocop...I initially had the headers just tacked on at an angle for testing and it seemed to have connection, however, to make sure I have since soldered them like you said. Still no change. What's strange though is, I have tried using GPIOnext and SOMETIMES one of the pins will register during config. But sometimes not. I dont get it, but I will give the suggestions a shot.

Re: Help Needed - buttons PCB
Also, not sure about GPIOnext, but with retrogame, make sure you use the GPIO/BCM number, not the physical pin number.
