18bit DPI Screen Color outline Issue [Solved]

Post by X.. » Sun May 05, 2019 7:13 pm

This issue has been resolved. The screen I was using became defective for some reason and was causing this color issue.
This post may be removed.

I'm having a strange issue with my DPI board causing some outlining, or hinting of another color around the edges of images.

not exactly too sure on how to explain it but I will include some pictures for anyone to check out.
I have tested this screen with another DPI that I have (Tinkerboy's DPI) and it works fine, but he also has a different Overlay than what I am using. So Im not sure if this an overlay issue, resolution issue or what.

The outline of color does go away during the transitioning between consoles screens and such, but always comes back after the transition is over. On top of that, the text is a bit fuzzy looking, which makes me think that maybe this is an overlay or resolution issue.

I have also tested my FPC connector with a multi-meter to check continuity on the pins multiple times and they seem all good.
Any ideas on how I can solve this problem? I otherwise will have to resort to a composite output and use the gearbest LCD driver board which is fairly thick and doesnt easily fit into a gameboy pocket...

You have to use the overlay file i've included at tinkerBOY DPI Adapter: Gettting Started Guide. And also make sure all the gpio pins are soldered properly.

Oh no, what I meant was, I've used the screen before and tested that it works with your DPI adapter. And when I use your adapter it works great, but the DPI adapter I am using, this is what it looks like. The dpi I am using is based off of Mattc's design, and uses the dpi18 overlay I think

Oh sorry.

I’m assuming you’re using the provided dpi18 overlay and using either mode 5 or 6? Make sure the GPIO pins are connected to the correct fpc connector pins. Mode 5 or 6 setup for 18bit can be found at https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... /README.md.
