i noticed that when i don't have a battery plugged in, my powerboost will show the charge led and low led lit up. i saw in a post while searching the forums that he had a possible shorting issue. I followed your diagram and fixed up my soldering, and i'm still feeling a dead end. My powerboost lights up when the pi is powered directly, so i'm at a loss

unless you connected the battery the wrong way around......

the Batt+ (positive) Batt- (negative) is how it is in the diagram i posted......

if you had it another way (opposite) you could have blown the Powerboost.....

failing that....
the diagram I posted should get everything working....
check you wiring and soldering....
also check the switch.....

heres the diagram again....

NB: one tip.....
DON'T glue anything in until you know that everything is working.....
providing that the soldering is OK you don't need to plaster it with glue
(once you certain everything is working, you could just apply some to ensure everything stays secure when handling around)

i figured out what was causing my issue. Wiring has been fine, per se. I did a trial and error and found my screen board is causing the issue. it still works with power straight from the pi, but not through the power boost. If I remove the screen power and ground from the power strip, pi gets power. if I attach the screen power and gnd to the power strip, no power.

the Powerboost should be more than capable of powering everything......
and you should be able to run everything from the power strip on the AIO (main power in coming from the Powerboost)

post clearer images of the screen....
and of any mods you may have done to it......

It is a BW screen from Amazon with the 5v mod.

if its the variant 13, then you will need to apply the modification for it to work......

re-do the mod.....
make sure there aren't any bridges on the chip (from pin/leg to pin/leg)

and also ensure that you have good and solid connection/soldering (especially the Ground)

solved it. completely... apparently this varient of the BW screen really wants the RZC chip removed. Wired directly to the 3rd pin spot and everything is good.
