Need help desoldering pins on the 640x480 controller board.

Hi all,

I'm using the display found in this thread here:

Cannikin had mentioned in the thread that he removed these white JST plastic from the board and then desoldered the pins:

I've removed the white plastic just fine, but I'm having trouble desoldering the pins. Has anyone done something like this before? What kind of tip should I be using on the iron? Would soldering wick be useful?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
