Thanks guys! The shielded composite cable worked! It's not perfect... maybe I'm too picky but it's way better than before.

Im having the same issue, atm im in the testing stage where i have the screen wired up to the pi for testing.

so I don't quite understand, the shielded wire has an inner and an outter wire are you soldering the inner part to ground the the outter to your video signal ?

the inner wire is your video signal, and the outer wire goes to the ground at both ends (providing the shielding)

the text in the menus (es menu) is gonna be like that, its a basic backup camera monitor or low res composite screen you cant expect great stuff...

you can always may sure you have changed the resolution in the config and to help select games easier opt for an optimised theme like the es gbz35 theme....

emulation station text is still gonna be fuzzy, a work around that i found was to tilt the viewing angle, its not perfect but makes the text a little better for reading

There's an Emulation station theme that's optimized for the low res 3.5 screen.

Yeah I understand the screen is only a cheap one. Do you know what the name of the theme is?
