Pi Zero Death streak...

So I’ve been building a GBZ during isolation, I’ve all but complete the build but.... my Pi Zero has now died... AGAIN. :o

Some how 2 have just died on me during the last few weeks and I have no idea why...

Both have worked fine, loaded RetroPie, buttons work, screen works etc etc then suddenly out of no where they’ve both just stopped working? :x

No activity light... nothing. Both time I’ve done all the usual checks, power, wires touching, solder issues etc even changed the SD Card image to a fresh one... still nothing...

The first time it happened, I thought maybe I shorted it or something but for it to happen again with a completely different Pi Zero board... I’m wondering just what the hell is going on?! :(

Has this happened to anyone else at all?

Oh and i am using the plain old Pi Zero not the Zero W etc.

definitely. thats happened to me a few times. one build in particular did the exact same thing on me - worked for a while, mysteriously died, i thought "well i musta shorted something", replaced the pi, worked, died... i never managed to figure out why on that one, but my guess was something in the power - the battery or the psu - doing something to it, but what, i don't know.

Does it seem to happen with all Pi's? Or just the Zero's?

well, i've only had that happen with the zeros, but i can't say it's not my fault, at least some or most of the time.

i've killed a couple other pi 3s, but usually i think i know why - it's some mod or something i've bridged or something like that - except one 3a+ that i never figured out why its dead (seems to be sdcard-reader related, but not sure how to fix/diagnose it beyond that).

i've definitely used more zeros than 3s or others tho, so just by the odds, i'm sure i'm going to have more to fail (plus i'm also probably a bit more careless with a $5 or $10 pc than a $30 or $40 one).

thats just my experience tho - everyone else's mileage may vary
