Hey everyone! So I recently decided to update my CS with a switch joy con, but I can only seem to get it to register up & down, not left & right. Any ideas?

I followed the instructions to a tee here:

Your wiring looks ok to me. Did you run the joystick calibration from ssh?

...I did not. What is this "joystick calibration" or which you speak?

I don’t actually know if this is the solution, just trying to help figure it out!

Unfortunately, it didn't work :/ the calibration all worked to the letter, but when I go to assign control configs on the main menu, it's still addressing only up & down

Did the calibration have values for both x and y? When you configure the input is it showing x+\- or y+\- for up and down?

I dunno what else to try. When I try configuring it in retropie, it says "already taken"

Hmm, maybe try resetting your controller configuration?

Retropie setup>Manage packages>Manage core packages>Emulationstation>Configuration/options> Clear/Reset Emulation Station input configuration>Yes>OK then keep exiting and reboot. Be careful when configuring the joystick as the joycon seems much more sensitive than the ps sticks I’ve used before, it’s very easy to tap it just slightly and it will register as a movement in the controller configuration, or not push precisely up or down and it registers as left or right instead.

Fingers crossed you’ll get it working properly soon!
