Arduino Micro R3

Post by aggiehavoc » Fri Aug 25, 2017 7:00 am

Hi,

Is anyone using an Arduino Micro (not to be confused with the Pro Micro). It is listed on the wiki without any further information. I have one of these lying around, and I'd like to use it if possible. I have a modified version of the Pro Micro sketch from the wiki running just fine on it. What I haven't been able to determine with either the Micro or Pro Micro is how to correctly hardwire the USB connection. I saw one person say he just plugged a stripped micro USB cable into his Pro Micro and soldered that. That would be fine, but with the Micro being a little longer, I am a little worried about having space. I also have seen that you shouldn't use the TX/RX pins for USB transfer.

I have not been able to find a guide for the wiring. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Anyone have any ideas on this one? Did I miss a guide or something?

It uses the same Atmel 32u4 chip on board, so I assume it would work fine. And the TX and RX pins should not be used with USB programming, only FTDI or arduino-arduino programming.
An amateur at best. Current project: GB 'Athena'

So, I am much further along in my build now, and the Arduino works great. I am contemplating just hard wiring to the pins on the back of the port. currently i have a stripped down USB connector that I am using, but it keeps coming unsoldered and makes Arduino a tough fit. I would prefer direct soldering
