circuit sword hot keys, everything works but volume

exactly what it says in the title. everything is properly connected, the speaker is working, i can change the display brightness using the hot buttons, but up or down there is absolutely no change in volume. any thoughts?

Could you take a look at the issue raised in GitHub and follow the steps in there first? https://github.com/kiteretro/Circuit-Sword/issues/17

Once you've followed those 8 steps, can you proceed to update the arduino and circuitsword software (using the 'update.sh' script, a new image hasn't been made with the changes yet)
