Wiring PRS Tech Board SD-Cart Reader

Post by reipet » Sat Mar 10, 2018 1:13 am

Hi all,

I have nearly finished my build and wanted to add some tweaks, like putting the SD-Card into the Cartridge.
Im using the PRS-Tech Board plus GBA Cartridge reader plus flat ribbon SD-Card extension.

I have wired everything that pin 1 from the SD-Reader from the pi matches Pin 1 in the Cartridge.
All lines have "beep" when testing but it doesnt boot up.

I realized PRS-Tech board only have 7 contacts used but the SD-Card has 8.
How I can check if there is a signal arriving at the pi?

I will try to shorten the lines also but I want to make sure that the wiring is correct.
Pin 6 from the SD-Card goes to Pin 15 from the Reader but there is no contact at the PRS-Board.

Connection from SD-Card to Cartreader is:

1->5
2->3
3->1
4->13
5->7
6->15
7->9
8->11

Im kinda lost.
Thanks for any help!

easier would have been to buy just a ribon extention cable (one that is long enough), you can find one cheap for arround 5 dollars on ebay

This is the correct wiring. It matches mine -- I used the same adapter in an SAIO build also with a PRS card reader.

THX for all the Infos.

Shorten the wires did the trick.
Now my first Build is finished and works flawless.

Only one thing is strange, after a while the Sound from the Speaker is gone, Headphones working fine though.

you might have a bad soldering somewhere on the audio line to the speaker. rework your solders and try to clean them for cold joints or bad joints :D

The sd card reader has eight pins because it has two ground pins you only need to use one ground pin
