Epoxy or Hot Glue

Post by Shadourufu » Tue Mar 13, 2018 1:29 am

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this whole GBZ thing and want to build my own with Kite's Circuit Sword. I'm looking forward to building it, but i don't understand what the difference between epoxy and hot glue is. Could someone explain it to me?
I will probably ask more questions but only when I encounter a problem.

the pros/benefits of hot glue (there are actually some)....
its very easy to apply
kind of a instant fix or secure
and easily removed (i personally just use some rubbing alcohol, which work great without damaging anything)
available in different colours (but not sure how strong the glue might be)

the cons (IMHO)
can end up looking like a mess if you go overboard (this can also be attributed to the gun you have, leaving strands)
may have to use a fair amount for something to become secure (this is variable)
isnt a permanent fix, with the right amount of heat or over time (depending on the quality of the glue sticks) can soften or come loose..
not heat resistant
need a glue gun to apply

epoxy pros
very strong fix once cured
can also be found in clear form, its clear once dried (but this is the expensive/good stuff, but not that expensive)
heat resistant
no need for additional appliances to use or apply

epoxy cons
normally have to mix two parts together to get an applicable form of epoxy
isnt an instant fix (will have to secure or fix or hold items in place for around 5-10mins)
needs to fully cured to be effective, and the curing process can take around 24hours
once cured can be a pain to remove (it can get rock hard)

there might be a few other things, but these are the main...
