No gamepad detected

Post by Nictendo_64 » Sun Sep 09, 2018 8:31 am

Hello all,

I apologize if I am doing this incorrectly. This is my first GBZ build and first post (hello). I have tried searching the forums and have not found a resolution to my problem. I have just received a helder aio 2.0 from RGN. After soldering everything together using helders diagram the pi is not recognizing the gamepad. I have gone through all of helders troubleshooting tips for this. No shorts, no incorrect solder points or cold joints, reinstalled retropi image and still nothing. I have tried connecting to my mac in an attempt to reprogram via arduino and 6pin header/ tac switch method, however my computer wont recognize the board. I solded usb to my board from data ports on pi usb port (green = D+ white = D-) on the board and power from the power strip. Any ideas on what I can do? I have attached some images of my build. Thank you.

I don’t know if it makes a difference, but most builds i have seen with the adafruit 1000 charger have the 5V and ground connected to the oval pads with the +/- signs, and from there to your power strip.

Your wiring looks good. And if you've check for short....(double check for a short between d+ and d-).

You could also connect a USB cable to the aio and see if your computer detects it. If the computer does not detect it as a USB device then it may be defective.

I assume the aio is powering your screen and pi. So the power connections should not be an issue.

Yes AIO is powering pi and screen no issues. I wired a USB and plugged into my computer and nothing.

Yeah, if the computer does not detect it, there is likely a bigger issue (it should show up). You could buy a USBasp to program the board, but, since you bought it from RGN, I would contact them for a replacement if you can't get it going.
