Pi won’t turn on?

Post by Jdrkangl2 » Sun Nov 18, 2018 6:13 pm

I’m having a problem where the pi works fine up until I wire the power cord for the screen. This happened suddenly when it has been working well for weeks now. It wouldnt turn on at all so I tried disconnecting things one by one and the only thing that fixed it was to un-wire the screen....any idea why this would suddenly happen.

Also I have tried powering from a wall adapter (official) and by battery.

I stripped it to just the screen and the pi so I could try with the ac adapter (same results with battery) the red wire os the power one and I circled where I have tried soldering it and neither work. Also again this was all a functioning gbz up until yesterday

your soldering could do with a bit of a clean up....

but i would NOT try to power the screen from the Pi Zero.....
power it up on its own....

using one of these (if possible)

also how have you got the screen wired/soldered up...

Oh sry I should have mentioned, I just striped everything to isolate this. I had the screen and the pi soldered to helders retro psu. The exact same problem occurred, everything was fine until I soldered the screen on to the psu

If you hook the pi up to an HDMI connection does it work? If yes then you have a GND short on the LCD board. Look for any stray solder balls or bridging, also show us a picture of your LCD board wiring.
